Fishing The Vale Of Evesham

Anyone wishing to come to the Vale for a spot of fishing is in for a real treat. The variety available is huge.

Starting with river fishing, you have the famous Evesham Town stretch, which runs into Hampton Ferry, which can all be fished on a day ticket basis. These waters throw up good catches of chub, roach, bream and perch and double-figure barbel. If you are on a family outing with not everyone wanting to fish, the town centre is a short walk away and provides a delightful shopping experience.

There are two tackle shops located on the High Street, namely Evesham Discount Tackle and The Bait Box, both of which offer excellent service and information on all local fishing. The Bait Box also has its own stretch of river fishing, which is known locally as Wilmots, and offers barbel, chub, roach and bream fishing.

If you want to do your fishing out of town, Twyford Farm provides river and pool fishing. The pool is a 1.5 acre water stocked with carp, bream, tench, roach and perch. There is also a 125 peg match length on the river where you can park very close behind most of the pegs.

Just north of Twyford at Harvington is the Manor Farm Leisure river stretch, which has 100 pegs offering chub, roach and barbel to double figures. You can park behind most of these pegs. Manor Farm Leisure also has seven pools, well stocked with mainly carp but also a lot of silverfish. The lakes are open for day tickets and match bookings and holiday accommodation is also available.

"Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land.  It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn."
