Friday 11th June 2010

Saturday 12th June 2010
Balloons There will be at least 20 balloons at the event currently with one international team (Belgium) taking part (is this the Evesham International Balloon Festival?)
Flights will take place on Saturday 7am, Saturday 6pm and Sunday 8am
A Balloon Nightglow and Firework Display all choreographed to Music will take place on Saturday 10.30pm, this together with the fireworks display is a must see part of the weekend. The evening finishes at 10.55pm
It is also planned to have: Model Hot Air Balloons at the event, these will be flown in the evening on the Saturday 7pm;
Hot Air Balloon Tethering on Saturday afternoon, with inflation and a tethered balloon in the filed for spectators to see. It should be noted that all the above are of course weather dependent. Landowners Draw
Mindful of the important role land owners play in the success of the event, there is a Landowners Draw with prizes from Co-Operative Funeral Care
There are 3 Landowner Draw Prizes, Hampers x 2, Wine Box x 1 The draw will operate on a landing card system, where balloonists ask the landowner where they land to complete a landowner’s card which is then put into a draw for the prizes in the week after the event Other local companies are welcome to sponsor a competition. Balloon Competitions (Fun)
New for this year, there will be Hot Air Balloon Competition Flying at the event
Pilots will compete using their skill and judgement to complete specific competition tasks, by flying their balloons precisely to targets and goals in the area
Depending on the weather and wind direction, competition will be either Maximum Distance Flown, Minimum Distance Flown (Bumble Fahrt), A Marker Drop Competition (where markers are dropped onto a cross fixed into a field). Prizes have been sponsored by The British Asparagus Festival and Oakfield Mushrooms Tere will be trophies and prizes for competing balloonists. Food for Balloonists
Philip Tomlins Funeral Directors – Are providing free Pork Baps/Hot Dogs for the balloonists and their teams and these will come from Kevin (the Butcher) Mace’s Food Stand.

Meeting at 1100 on Friday the 7th May Filming is being discussed for the weekend of the event I will let you know more once I know more, but we may need to be quite controlled about how we speak about this. I will ask the BBC. Classic Cars
Over 200 classic cars are expected at this years event including the MG owners and VW Camper Van Club

Hovercraft displays will feature on Crown Meadow and the River Avon
Displays will take place every hour on the hour throughout the day Between displays hovercraft rides will be on sale to the public Music
Live music will be performed on stage throughout the event the programme so far is
1pm – 1.45 KTF (young teenage band playing popular modern covers) 2.15pm til 3pm Bass Birds and Beats (female duo jazz/blues/folk fusion, double bass etc, these two are superb and great fun!) 3.30pm – 4.15pm Crazy 88’s: 5 Piece local covers band playing covers to dance to 4.45pm – 5.30pm The Irony: A popular local band on the verge of something big 6pm – 6.45pm: Ra Ra and the Vine Project: Rhianna Jacobs and a band made up of Old Evesham Rockers, great original material, should be an interesting one! 7pm – 9pm: The England Game: Pumped though the sound system + Half Time Entertainment 9pm – 10pm: Grand Finale with The Marabooboo Allstars: A popular local group playing a great selection of 80’s to naughty’s. Food & Drink
A fine selection of food and drink will be available including Real Ales, Local Pork Baps and Hot Dogs, Maheens Indian Restaurant together with teas, coffees and ice-cream.

Classic Cars on display Asparagus Family Fun Run:1 11:30 Warm up for a noon start Crown Meadow, Evesham At 12pm Vale of Evesham Round Table will be hosting the Evesham Asparagus Family Fun Run. A 5km run / stroll around Evesham avoiding public roads - open to everyone This year the Run will be started by BBC Country File’s Adam Henson Entry £5 per adult/under 18s £1 (under 14’s must be accompanied by an adult) There will be prizes for the best fancy dressed teams and individuals taking part in the run for under and over 18's. All sponsorship money raised by the participants will be forwarded to their own chosen charity or it can be donated to the event charity which this year will be the County Air Ambulance along with the entry fees. 12pm – 4pm W Factor Finalists – Performances throughout the day By the W Factor Finalists, some of the countries most talented young musicians. A great day to chill out and listen to some great acts. |
